[It had been a couple of months since Eric has joined HOMRA. Everyone has done their best to help their latest member adjust, though most of the work fell on Fujishima's shoulders as he was the one who initially brought the young man into their lives.
But Fujishima has gone out, spending time with family, so Eric is now in everyone's hands.
Only for most of them to go out, including young Anna who decided to go with Totsuka and Mikoto for some grocery shopping, which meant only Izumo and Eric were left behind, and the barkeep has been trying to find ways to interact with the young man. None of it seemed so easy, so he simply requested for Eric's help in stocking up the wine bottles he recently ordered.]
[ Eric stared somehow both curiously and bored at the boxes of wine that Kusanagi had put out. He didn't really want anything to do with alcohol, but this was a bar and Kusanagi had asked, how was he suppose to say no?
He bent down to one of the opened ones and plucked one of the bottles out of it's case, holding on the neck with just some fingers, probably not the best way to go about it. He tilted his head to read the label, a date and some random English words on it... ]
[Pausing from where he's cleaning the glasses, Izumo decides to put them back into the rack. He turns to look over at what Eric was doing, noticing he was staring at the wine bottle, looking more than a little confused.
He hides a smile, knowing all too well that no one else in the bar has never bothered to learn about wine as much as he did. Totsuka was close, Chitose was closer, but Izumo's the one who does all the business, after all.
He walks over to the younger, peering down at the bottle.] There is. All o'em are aged differently, made in different countries, and even with different ingredients.
[ He continues to slowly turn the bottle around, listening to Kusanagi explain the differences. He looked back down into the crate and gave a soft snort. ]
Y'gotta have a special eye for tha' kind o' stuff.
[But he's going to just show Eric how to sort these out properly, making sure to point out how to notice the difference between them so that it doesn't get mixed up.
When he's sure Eric understood, he gently pats his shoulder.] If ya need help, don't hesitate ta ask.
[ He listens intently to what Kusanagi tells him, hoping he's not going to mess anything up. He was being helpful he had to do it right.
The shoulder pat is noticed and he looks at the hand in reflex, just watching it. He nods in response before starting his small job, slowly putting the wine away. ]
[He notices Eric looking at his hand, but he moves on, not allowing it to deter him.
Moving off to the side to start cleaning his bar counter again, making sure to dust everything. It goes relatively quiet, a rare thing in itself given how rowdy the rest of the boys were whenever they were in the bar.
But Izumo keeps an ear out for Eric, listening to him but saying nothing. It's only when he notices the time that he slowly comes to a stop.] Are ya hungry?
[ He works pretty well and diligently though a bit slowly as he tries to remember everything that Kusanagi taught him. So much info for just these bunch of dark bottles. ]
Uhm...
[ There's a pause as he tries and debates whether or not he should say he is or not. They wanted him honest but asking for food was still a bit weird. ]
[Izumo would rather Eric take his time than to rush, anyway. Compared to certain members, they'd probably mess it up and he'd have to do it again later.
But as he waits for Eric to answer, Izumo simply waits patiently. Then he smiles, pleased with getting an answer.
It's a start, so he gestures for the younger man to follow him back to the kitchen, already heading over to the fridge to see what they have.] Is there anything in particular that ya want?
'm gonna show ya how ta cook. [Now gesturing Eric to come over.] 's a handy skill ta have, and if ya ever get hungry, ya can just cook something.
[He's careful not to step over any boundaries, but cooking is one hobby he can help Eric enjoy, right? Besides, he wants Eric to be more open, and cooking is a good way to do it.] 'sides, I'd rather trust ya in my kitchen than some o' the other guys.
[ He still comes over to Kusanagi, old habits die hard. And come on when does he really admit to being hungry that he could make his own food? He did like the idea however, it would make him less dependent on everyone else. ]
[It's simply because of that. Eric doesn't like to admit anything, but where he can't admit, he can just cook.
But Izumo has always been patient. There's that urge to ruffle the younger man's hair, but he refrains. Eric doesn't particularly liked to be touched, after all.] That's why 'm gonna teach ya.
[ He mumbles a bit at the smile still need to get used to this whole thing.
Eric watched and tried to absorb as best as he could. There was quite a lot of information to get through and Eric's never really heard about any of these things. He was quiet and listened intently though. ]
[He goes slow enough to allow Eric to watch properly, naming the necessary spices and pausing to allow the information sink in. Far from wanting to overwhelming him, Izumo wants to let Eric see and hear everything, making sure not to miss a beat.
Marinating the pork cutlets is easy enough, though Izumo makes sure to show Eric how to marinate it properly.
The lesson can go on for a bit, even a little pass lunch time, but it's okay. Cooking takes time - no one can ever learn it so fast. Though, once in a while, the barkeep does pause to make sure Eric is still following him, always telling him to never hesitate to ask if he has questions about anything.]
[ Even though Kusanagi continues say to not hesitate in asking questions, Eric keeps his mouth shut. The way he was explaining things was more then enough for him to get the gist of everything. He was better at explaining then those in Hikawa, and a lot easier to follow.
Though by the end, Eric blushes as his stomach growls loudly. The pork cutlets were smelling pretty good now and he hadn't eaten anything since early that morning ]
[Hearing Eric's stomach growl has Izumo chuckling, taken pleasantly by surprised by the sound.
He gives his hair a small ruffle before dropping his hand in order to fetch the plates from the cabinets. As he walks back over, he hands Eric a plate.] Seems like all the work finally got t'ya. Let's eat.
[ Slowly, he takes the cutlet and rice and puts it on his plate. He tilts his head before he decides to add those things to Kusanagi's plate as well. Manners, he knew them a bit.
He forgets his itadakimasu as he puts a way too big spoonful in his mouth, dribbling back onto the plate and onto his face. He jumps, eyes wide. ]
I, really made this?
[ He had been expecting really bad taste or...something. But, it was good, he liked it. ]
[Izumo watches him plate his food, a tiny bit surprised before it's masked away. Still, he smiles, waiting for him to finish.
He notices the lack of 'itadakimasu', but doesn't say anything. It's easy to forget, so there's no harm done for now.
Izumo watches his reaction as Eric takes the bite, his smile widening just a bit at seeing the pleasant surprise on his face.] Yes, ya did. How d'ya like it?
For Eric
But Fujishima has gone out, spending time with family, so Eric is now in everyone's hands.

He bent down to one of the opened ones and plucked one of the bottles out of it's case, holding on the neck with just some fingers, probably not the best way to go about it. He tilted his head to read the label, a date and some random English words on it... ]
There are...differences in these?

Doesn't matter.

Then please...teach me...and thanks.

It's a start, and Izumo will take it.
So, let the lessons begin!]

But letting Eric take the plate without a word of complaint.]
'm sure. Ya made it, too, so ya should at least try your own cooking. [Its a habit Izumo's determined to break, albeit slowly. This is a good start.]
