History:
Born to parents who were never there for him, Izumo mostly spent his childhood alone, getting into fights with the other children his age. He yearned for his parents' attention, just the slightest amount of affection would do, but he never received any. This only prompted him to get into further incidents, frequent brawls (especially in school), and doing other activities that only landed him in trouble. However, his parents still never paid any attention to him, leading him to believe that he was unwanted and tried to leave, only to be found by Scepter 4 when he got into a skirmish with a runaway Strain that tried to use him as hostage.

It didn't work as the Blue King at the time, Habari Jin, rescued Izumo in time before the Strain could kill him. Izumo was in awe, but didn't have the time to even thank the Blue King before he was reluctantly escorted back home to his parents. Their anger and relief was new to Izumo, having never been properly cared for by them before. It changed the environment in their home with his parents paying more attention to him, and Izumo soon learned he would be getting a younger sibling as his mother became pregnant when he turned ten years of age.

A month later, his parents died, his young sibling dying with them.

Izumo was soon taken in by his uncle, being cared for the older man. However, saddened by his parents' deaths, Izumo reverted back to his delinquent ways the moment he entered middle school. It was there that he encountered a fellow troubled teen by the name of Suoh Mikoto. The two eventually found themselves becoming friends, spending time with one another during their free time - even cutting class when they didn't feel like going. For the two of them, they existed in their own little world.

Until the Kagutsu Crater incident happened.

It was a year later after the incident that Izumo found himself being bestowed the powers of the Red King. The aura, new to him, threatened to consume him. He even distanced himself from his uncle and Mikoto as he struggled to contain his new powers, but the two of them dragged Izumo back to HOMRA - his uncle's bar - where it remained shut down until Izumo could finally control his aura. Mikoto, especially, stayed to help Izumo with his aura and didn't particularly care having missed school in order to stay with his best friend.

The moment Izumo learned to control his powers, he made Mikoto and his uncle his first clansmen.

It remained that way even as Izumo and Mikoto entered their high school years until a young middle-schooler by the name of Totsuka Tatara joined them. Izumo was amused by the young boy that followed them around, particularly Mikoto as Totsuka seemed intent on calling the redhead 'King' - a title that both he and Mikoto found amusement in. They allowed the young boy to tag along with them, but Izumo found himself pulling away when news of his uncle's death reached him.

Filled with anguish, Izumo nearly set a whole block of the city on fire, only to be detained by Habari Jin, who was there when Kagutsu's Sword of Damocles fell. Habari had warned him, telling him to be careful as the Red Aura was renowned for being the most destructive of all of the other Auras. As the Blue King left, Izumo was alone again until Mikoto and Totsuka found him again.

Izumo soon made Totsuka his clansman, and inheriting his uncle's bar, Izumo soon made HOMRA the home base for the Red Clan.

It remained the three of them until Izumo gradually began to gain more clansmen, developing an attachment to a young girl named Anna, whom he sees as a younger sister or daughter.

Izumo had no problems with allowing Mikoto to be the figurehead of HOMRA, well aware that the redhead had more charisma than the two of them; however, it didn't stop him from stepping in whenever his Kingly duties were called upon.

Canon events occurred (mostly) with only a few minor differences in the case where Izumo played a semi-bigger part, and that Totsuka never died, aside from being nearly killed by the Colorless King as Izumo and Yata managed to find him in time.

With the weight of the Sword weighing down on him, Izumo was well aware that his time as King was nearly over, but it didn't stop him from trying to hunt down Totsuka's attacker, leading them all to the school island. Only Mikoto, Totsuka, and Anna knew what was happening to Izumo, knew what would happen should Izumo successfully kill the Colorless King. All three voiced their concerns, but Izumo merely smiled and reassured them that everything would be all right.

That was all that was left said before canon events during the school island arc occurred.

And Izumo's Sword of Damocles fell.

As the Red King, Izumo's Sword is truthfully in worst shape than Mikoto's had been. This is due to the fact that Izumo bears more weight on his shoulders, not once allowing his true feelings and thoughts to be known. His refusal to do so isn't unnatural, but there's a burden on his shoulders that won't ever go away, and it's causing his Weismann level to slowly skyrocket.

Following above, he keeps his Clansmen at a relative distance - close enough to care for them, but distant enough where he doesn't engage in a closer relationship with them. They're his Clansmen, he'd protect them, but at the same time, he doesn't want any of them to worry about him. It may make him seem somewhat cold, but it's the exact opposite; he just cares too much. This puts Seri in the same boat because Izumo doesn't want - or need - her friendship, not even a listening ear. She's a Blue, anyway, and Izumo's not too keen on getting close to them at all.

In case of his death, Izumo's already filled out a will.

If he dies, then Mikoto and Totsuka will inherit the bar, making them the new owners. HOMRA Bar will be under their names, no longer his, and while it pains him, Izumo wants to believe that they'll take good care of it in his place, and if needed, then the two of them will also own his apartment in which they're free to keep or sell, along with his personal belongings.

But Izumo made sure to keep the will hidden, tucked away with a lawyer he can trust, and made absolutely sure no one would find out about it - including Anna.
