Name: Kusanagi Izumo
Age: 26-27
Affiliation: HOMRA (Red Clan)
Occupation: Bartender, Underground Informant, Owner of the bar HOMRA
Family: Unnamed uncle (deceased)

History:
Kusanagi Izumo is mostly recognized as the bar owner of HOMRA, located in Shizume City, and as the second-in-command of the Red Clan, known to be the second strongest after their King, Suoh Mikoto.

Not much is known of his childhood or any of his relatives aside from an uncle that initially owned HOMRA before allowing Izumo to inherit it after his death when Izumo turned 18.

Some time during his teen years (suspected to be somewhere in early high school years or late middle school years), Izumo had encountered another teen known as Suoh Mikoto, a troublesome redhead that the blond found himself becoming best friends with. Eventually, some time in their later years with Izumo being in his last year of high school, the two of them encountered a young middle schooler by the name of Totsuka Tatara, who had already been following Mikoto around and calling him 'King'. Izumo initially teased Mikoto about this one day when Mikoto was hanging out at the bar before Izumo received a call from a hospital, telling him news about Totsuka's condition, in which the blond had relayed to his friend.

The two of them visited Totsuka in the hospital, who made light of his injuries despite having a broken leg and arm, and his head was bandaged as well. Izumo initially warned Totsuka not to get involved with Mikoto again, otherwise he'd get hurt again, but the youngest of the three brushed his warnings aside. Instead, he told Izumo that he viewed Mikoto as a 'King' and that he was determined to become the King's 'vassal'.

Some time after that, the three of them began to hang out with each other. Their teenaged years were filled with trouble, from playing a game of 'chicken race' to viewing their teacher undressing and even playing a game of kick the can in which Mikoto had bashed Izumo's head into the ground before doing the same to Totsuka. Despite this, though, Izumo found it fun - he still did even after Mikoto became the new Red King.

Memory of Red
Izumo was first introduced in Memory of Red when a new member, Akagi Shouhei, arrived at the bar in order to join the Clan. He welcomed Shouhei before accompanying him upstairs, along with the other members of HOMRA, to where their King was waiting for them. It was in Mikoto's room where Izumo witnessed Shouhei joining their ranks after receiving the Red King's Aura.

A few days later, Izumo and Totsuka had a brief talk with the latter commenting how Shouhei seemed to make everyone worried; although Izumo made a light argument saying that they should instead be worried about an intoxicated Bandou - who was trying his best to get Shouhei to leave the group. When the intoxicated Bandou grew too loud, Izumo calmly grabbed the man by his face before slamming him down onto the counter of his bar, knocking him back into sobriety before calmly asking if there was anything he wanted to talk about. This had caused Bandou to become intimidated, soon telling everyone about why he was feeling so against Shouhei joining HOMRA.

Everyone felt that the reason was too insignificant.

Some time in that evening, Izumo and Totsuka was approached by one of their fellow members, Masaomi Dewa, who warned them about what was happening to Shouhei, who had gone alone to face off a drug dealing gang known as Rakshasa. Totsuka found it amusing that Shouhei would go alone whereas Izumo thought differently, believing that if one has such power, there would always be a responsibility and repercussions for wielding such power, and if people took it lightly, it would only become a headache.

Soon, Izumo, along with the rest of HOMRA, arrived at a warehouse where the drug dealing gang was at just in time to save Shouhei and Bandou, who were both greatly wounded by then. Mikoto scolded Shouhei not to take his powers lightly and become consumed by it, in which prompted Izumo to tease his best friend whether or not he spoke from experience - this simply had Mikoto telling him to shut up. After saving their friends and Shouhei's friend, and disposing Rakshasa in the process, Izumo could later be seen in HOMRA, complaining about who they thought would end up cleaning their mess. Though, he soon switched the topic when he noticed how passionate Totsuka had become with photography as the younger always switched hobbies at some point or another after becoming bored with it.

Some time after that, HOMRA could be seen playing baseball in a park where Izumo warned Yata that Mikoto would be coming up next. The game was cut short when Chitose soon had his turn and hit the ball toward Yubikiri Maria - a Strain assassin, prompting Chitose to make a run for it with Dewa and Totsuka following him. While those three were hiding, Izumo called Totsuka to confirm Chitose's status before giving his phone to Mikoto, who had been standing beside him when Totsuka transferred the call to Chitose. After Chitose nervously rejected Mikoto's help, Izumo commented that lately Mikoto had been in a good mood. He then went on to explain that Maria was a Strain - a person gifted with free powers that hadn't been granted by a King, and an assassin; however, she wouldn't ever harm an innocent person, so he made a comment as to what Chitose had done to warrant her wrath.

After Totsuka returned to the bar, albeit with an injury around his neck that was soon bandaged up, he explained about why Maria was after Chitose in the first place. Izumo inquired whether or not Totsuka heard the story from Maria herself, later laughing when Totsuka confirmed. He remarked how that was the Vassal's specialty before commenting how it would be good if Maria didn't kill Chitose - which she didn't.

A couple of months later, one of their fellow members, Fujishima Kousuke, returned to the bar with an unconscious man on his back. Izumo immediately told Kousuke that the man wasn't allowed in his bar, trying to convince him to take him elsewhere, but Totsuka managed to persuade the bartender it was all right, much to his chagrin.

When the unconscious man awoke, he immediately snapped at Yata in English; this prompted Izumo to calmly scold the man in return in English. Later, the man soon introduced himself to be Eric Solt. Eric ended up staying at the bar for a few days before he began to inquire if their group was really HOMRA, which Fujishima confirmed. Eric went on further to inquire who the strongest one, which they answered was Mikoto, but Fujishima also commented that Izumo was the second-strongest in the Clan. Izumo soon added that Yata had the most outstanding potential in the Clan before Eric wondered about Totsuka, in which the oldest explained that while the Vassal was the weakest, his presence made everything easier for them in the long run.
